NAME: Asian Culture Complex (A.C.C.)
LOCATION & YEAR: Gwangju, South Korea - 2007
TYPE: Master-plan Design Competition
DESCRIPTION: Cultural centre and surrounding area located at the city centre of Gwangju (114.900 sqm including a culture complex, a performance hall, a multi-media theatre, a children’s museum, a culture institute and laboratories). The design is an open, ecological structure where each cluster, programmatically different, has its own indipendent structure. Still all volumes are fluently connected, without interfering with the existing viability system, to simulate collaborations and to give one strong image for the Asian Culture as one entire complex.
