NAME: A.C. Siena Stadium
LOCATION & YEAR: Siena, Italy - 2007
TYPE: Architectural Design Competition
DESCRIPTION: Design for the new A.C. Siena stadium able to host up to 21.000 spectators and with a character of camouflage in the surrounding natural environment. Had been decided to adopt a non-symmetrical shape, modeled to be more soft and fluent as the hills of the surrounding countryside and able to better fit the location. The main volume had been then pushed into the ground to decrease the height of the elevations for a reduced environmental impact. The huge parking area required had been divided into small cells spread all around the stadium creating terraces on the hills instead of a large flat area.
